What is Maurice Chevalier's Net Worth?
Maurice Chevalier, a French actor and singer, had a net worth of $10 million. Born in Paris, France in 1888, Chevalier initially worked various jobs before finding his calling in the entertainment industry during the early 1900s. He started his career by singing at a local café and later landed a role in a community musical called "l'Alcazar". Within a short span of time, he formed a successful duo with Frehel, becoming one of the most popular duos in France. Sadly, their partnership ended prematurely due to Frehel's struggles with substance addiction.

During World War I, Chevalier's career was put on hold as he served in the military and was injured on the battlefield, eventually becoming a prisoner of war. He was fortunate to be released thanks to the intervention of Spain's King Alfonso XIII. After his release, Chevalier resumed his performing career and dedicated himself to entertaining the troops. He later moved to London, then returned to Paris, where he continued his work in film and music. In 1928, he made his debut in Hollywood, signing a contract with Paramount Pictures and appearing in the film "Innocents of Paris".

In 1930, just two years after arriving in Hollywood, Chevalier received his first Oscar nomination for Best Actor for his performances in "The Love Parade" and "The Big Pond". He quickly became one of the most recognizable stars in the U.S. during the early 1930s, starring in successful films like "Playboy of Paris", "Love Me Tonight", and "The Beloved Vagabond". He also had a notable role in the 1958 film "Gigi". Even during World War II, Chevalier managed to sustain his career and was even invited to perform by the Nazis, a request he declined. Instead, he chose to entertain World War II prisoners of war at his former internment camp.

Chevalier had numerous hit songs throughout his career, such as "Ma Pomme" in 1946, "Living In the Sunlight, Loving in the Moonlight" in 1930, "Thank Heaven For Little Girls" in 1957, and "Enjoy It!" in 1967. One of his notable contributions was singing the lead song for Disney's "The Aristocats" in 1970. Sadly, Maurice Chevalier passed away on New Year's Day in 1972 at the age of 83 in Paris.
